Religious Itinerary

The presence of so many places of worship throughout the Colli Verdi area testifies not only to the importance of religious life in the municipality's history, but also to the evolution of Lombard religious architecture over the centuries.

The history of Colli Verdi, and in particular of the hamlet of Canevino, is closely linked to Saint Colombano and the transfer of the saint's remains from Bobbio to Pavia, the Translatio Sancti Columbani, which took place in 929. This event is linked to an important miracle that occurred during the transfer of the saint's remains to Canevino.

Today, it is possible to visit the main places of worship in the Oltrepò municipality to pray, to discover their fascinating history, often intertwined with the trials and tribulations of noble Lombard families of the past, or to admire the extraordinary architectural beauty and the precious paintings and frescoes contained within the churches and oratories.
