The small church, once officiating, was built near the Verde Castle by the Malaspina family, lords of the territory, in the 16th century "for the convenience and needs of the castle workers".

In reality it seems that an architectural structure dating back to the time of the foundation of the fortress, although in ruins, already existed and that the Marquis Gerolamo Malaspina only proceeded with the restoration.
Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, it was established that the Madonna della Neve would be celebrated there.

The land in front of the Church, surrounded by a wall, was used as a cemetery. It was later deconsecrated due to degradation, but was restored in 1852, after the rumor spread among the population that the Virgin had appeared among the ruins asking that the oratory be brought back to worship.

This small oratory, built with local sandstone ashlars, can be considered an example of minor (poor) religious architecture.
